With the minimum wage increasing to $14/hour, how is your company handling the additional cost, i.e., cutting hours of work; reducing customer service levels; cutting staffing levels; etc
The reality is that we cannot hire good people for less than $16 per hour and raised our wages last year ahead of the legislation. Where the hardships will be most visible is with non-profits who are not seeing core funding or per diem increasing to cover these costs. I sit on a board for a non-profit group home. We will have to increase our clerical, cooking/cleaning staff. This will have to result in reduce services unless we can increase revenues. We will have to get creative but our staff work hard and we need to support their right to fair wages. In all I think it will help staff morale.
